Data

HKH Region The datasets were prepared mainly based on source data (scale 1:1 million) of ESRI Data & Maps and United State Geological Survey (USGS). There are numbers of thematic layers covering Hindu Kush – Himalayan (HKH) region.

GIS Datasets of Nepal 1:250,000 The datasets were developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) based on Topographic Zonal Map published by Department of Survey in different dates. There are more than 20 thematic layers covering entire Nepal.

GIS Dataset of Nepal 1:500,000 The datasets were developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) based on Maps published by Department of Survey and other different sources. The thematic layers are covering entire Nepal.

Kathmandu Valley GIS Datasets Kathmandu Valley GIS Datasets are developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in 2000 for the Publication Kathmandu Valley GIS Database Bridging the Data Gap. The GIS Datasets are developed to support on various programme, research, and study using GIS technology based on topographic map scale 1:25,000, and Land use, Land system, and Land capability are based on Land Resource Mapping Project (LRMP) scale 1:50,000 published by Dept. of Survey. The datasets are up to VDC level in the valley.

Kirtipur Datasets Kirtipur Municipality Datasets are developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in 2003 for a Case Study of Kirtipur Municipality. The datasets are large scale 1:2,000, based on maps published by Dept. of Housing, Building and Physical Planning as well as Field Survey data. The land use 1992 scale 1:10,000 and land use 1998 scale 1:15,000 are based on Aerial Photographs. The datasets are up to ward level of Municipality.

Dataset for Sagarmatha National Park (SNP) The spatial datasets of Sagarmatha National Park (SNP) were compiled and developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) - MENRIS under the HKKH Partnership Project

Dataset for Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP) The spatial datasets of Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP) were compiled and developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) - MENRIS under the HKKH Partnership Project

Dataset for Qomolongma Nature Preserve (QNP) The spatial datasets of Central Karakoram National Park (CKNP) were compiled and developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) - MENRIS under the HKKH Partnership Project

Value-added Data

Kathmandu Valley GIS Database Kathmandu valley GIS Database – is a comprehensive database of the Kathmandu valley as a means of bridging important data gaps for urban environment planning and decision-making. The Kathmandu valley GIS Database CD-ROM consists of spatial data layers at the scale of 1:25000 includes other relevant satellite images and socio-economic data. The case studies included in the dataset demonstrate application of GIS and RS for urban planning. The dataset then released was first-of-its kind to put spatial data in the public domain in Nepal and paved way for spatial data sharing and exchange in Nepal.

Indicators of Development of Chittagaon This value added dataset contains socio-economic indicators of Chittagaon Hill Tracts of Bangladesh consisting of three Bandarban, Khagarachari and Bandarban districts. The CD-Rom is packaged with self-contained GIS software with basic functionality to make own maps.

Nepal Census Indicators 2001 and Trends This value added dataset contains district level socio-economic indicators based on 2001 census data of Nepal. The dataset also include comparison of selected socio-economic indicators over 40 years time period i.e. 1971, 1981, 1991 and 2001. The CD-Rom is packaged with self-contained GIS software with basic functionality to make own maps.

Inventory of Glacial Lakes and Identification of Potential Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) Affected by Global Warming in the Mountains of Himalayan Region This CD-ROM contains the comprehensive inventory of glaciers and glacial lakes of HKH region including Bhutan, Nepal and Pakistan and selected basins of China and India. This is the first series of regional inventory and database of the region.

GIS for Municipal Planning – A Case Study from Kirtipur Municipality GIS for Municipal Planning a Case Study from Kirtipur Municipality was published by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in 2003. In this case study large scale (1:2,000) spatial datasets and high resolution Image like; IKONOS and Aerial photographs were used for the detailed study using GIS technology in ward level of Municipality.

State of the Environment Nepal The National SoE Report of Nepal aims to provide guidelines for environment action planning, policy setting, and resource allocation for the coming decades, based on squad analysis of the state of and trends in the nation’s environment. This SoE report is prepared based on the UNEP format and is composed of four different parts.

Paghman Tapa Garden – Demonstration and Training Centre, Afghanistan Master Plan The Master Plan is prepared as a national document for the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan that will provide a framework for infrastructure planning, development, use and management of Paghman Tapa Garden, Demonstration and Training Centre. The Master Plan will serve as a resource book that will assist the ongoing infrastructure development, and guide environmental development and heritage restoration, and preservation of the Paghman Tapa.

Mapping The Status of Bhutan’s Renewable (Agricultural) Natural Resources This value added dataset contains district level natural resources indicators of Bhutan focussing on Agriculture and renewable natural resources based agricultural census data by MoA. The dataset also include comparison of selected indicators. The CD-Rom is packaged with self-contained GIS software with basic functionality to make own maps.

Software

Decision Support Tool (DST) Software Decision Support Toolbox (DST) software has been designed and developed by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) under HKKH Partnership Project to provide a set of integrated but self contained tools to support decision making process in the ecosystem management of protected areas.The DST has been developed using a modular architecture. It contains three application modules namely Knowledgebase, Spatial Analysis and Scenario Analysis.

Toposheets Tool The Toposheets tool packaged under Toposheets.tbx toolbox exports indices of topographic sheets of Nepal that lie under a given area of interest as a .dbf or dBase file. This tool has been developed to be used in ArcMap and will help users to identify the indices of topographic sheets lying under selected district(s) before going to buy topographic sheets from Department of Survey, Nepal.
