ICIMOD, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Forestry (MoECAF), Myanmar, is organizing a half-day event on 24 March 2015 in Yangon with the aim of strengthening the partnership between ICIMOD and Myanmar.
During the event, ICIMOD will introduce its programmes to development organizations and the private sector in Myanmar and explore possibilities for joint programme development.
The event will also seek to stimulate the private sector’s interest in forming partnerships to promote strategic business engagement and contribute to sustainable mountain development in Myanmar.
The event is expected to raise the awareness of Myanmar stakeholders about ICIMOD and its programme in Myanmar. It will help build new linkages between ICIMOD and development organizations and the corporate sector, in alignment with national priority programmes. These include, but are not limited to, adaptation to climate change for improving rural livelihoods; ecotourism and watershed development; ecosystem services assessment and transboundary landscape conservation; REDD+ payment mechanism; regional flood information system and early warning system; development of national GIS system and geospatial platform, climate information system, Himalayan University Consortium, and knowledge networking and private sector engagement.
