  • Gunjan Silwal
    Gunjan Silwal is a remote sensing and geographic information system associate at ICIMOD.  She is responsible for assisting with organizing expeditions to collect glacier mass balance and geometry measurements, often in collaboration with regional and national partners. She provides support for field data management and analysis, and assists in internal quality control in relation to ICIMOD’s implementation and delivery of glaciological data, services, and knowledge products. She is also responsible for maintaining field equipment and instruments, and assisting in the organizing regional and national training courses, workshops, and seminars.

  • Roshan Dahal
    Roshan Dahal is a remote sensing and geographic information system associate at ICIMOD. His major responsibilities are to map and monitor glacier changes in Pakistan and transboundary landscapes in the region, and to support a study on a geodetic mass balance.

  • Tika Ram Gurung
    Tika Ram Gurung is a research associate glaciologist with the Cryosphere Initiative at ICIMOD. His responsibilities include assisting with organizing expeditions to collect glacier mass balance and geometry measurements, often in collaboration with regional and national partners. He also supports field data management and analysis, and assists in internal quality control in relation to ICIMOD’s implementation and delivery of glaciological data, services, and knowledge products.   • Sonam Futi Sherpa
    Sonam Futi Sherpa is currently enrolled in the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University, the United States, where she is studying glacial lake outburst floods, and vulnerability and climate change in the Himalaya. Sherpa previously worked as a research associate glaciologist with the Cryosphere Initiative at ICIMOD.

  • Mohan Bahadur Chand
    Mohan Bahadur Chand is a research associate at the Hindu Kush Cryosphere Monitoring Programme (CMP), Kathmandu University. His field of interests include Himalayan debris-covered glaciers, glacier hydrology, glacio-hydrological modelling, and other related glaciological fields including the application of remote sensing and geographic information system in cryosphere. He currently supports HiCCDRC research activities and manages field expeditions to Nepali Glaciers. He is also guiding the several MS by Research in Glaciology students through their dissertations.

  • Sanjay Gurung
    Sanjay Gurung is a hydrologist at Real Time Solution Pvt Ltd. He is responsible for generating sediment-monitoring systems for hydropower plants and modelling real time discharge calculation using velocity sensors and water levels. He also works on generating flood forecast models for the Karnali, West Rapti, Narayani, and Kankai basins, and deploys such model on servers. He carries out data quality assessment of all hydrological and meteorological stations, assisting in the development of software to be used in hydrological and meteorological measurements.

    Achut Parajuli is pursuing his PhD at the Université Laval, Canada, Department of Water Engineering.  His research topic is “Snow Hydrology for the Boreal Forest Foret Montmorency”, which she is pursuing under the supervision of research directors Daniel Nadeau and François Anctil.

    Sonika Shahi is a PhD candidate at the Department of Geography and Regional Science, University of Graz, Austria. Her research topic is “Relevance of local climate variation for glacier behavior in Tyroler Fjord (Northeast Greenland)”, which she is pursuing under the supervision of Wolfgang Schöner.
