ICIMOD is increasingly aware of the need of a regional database management system framework that facilitates the institution-wide storage of various kinds of spatial and non-spatial data that the centre is dealing with, that includes geographic, socio-economic, natural resources, climatic and broader environmental parameters. The main objective of such a framework is to provide access to and use of relevant information and knowledge of regional significance to the ICIMOD staff members, regional partners and the stakeholders concerned in order to support mountain development strategies, policies and programmes.
